The salary range for this position is:
Recruitment range: $120,186 - $150,232 maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.
Performance range: starting salary to max of $172,768 is available through annual performance increases.
* This position is eligible for a Hybrid Work Arrangement*
An employee in this classification is excluded from the bargaining unit as defined in the Labour Relations Code.
Job SummaryThe Maintenance and Operations Department provides essential support to the University Campus by providing operations and maintenance services for all of the campus buildings and grounds including environmental and energy management. The department supports the Project Planning and Project Management Services Departments with assistance to contractors and consultants throughout campus capital development processes as well as managing technical infrastructure projects where appropriate.
The Director of Maintenance and Operations is accountable for the 130 staff members who deliver effective Building Operations, Maintenance, Grounds and Energy Management. The position's duties include administrative support, client services, human resources, labour relations, health and safety issues, budget and purchasing administrative duties.
Job RequirementsQualifications and Experience:
- An undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, business, accounting or other post-secondary education as deemed appropriate. plus 7-10 years of directly related experience in a large complex organization. An equivalent level of education, training and experience may be considered.
- This position demands a: strong foundation of management level skills related to facilities planning and design is essential; and an ability to interpret, work with, and design financial budgets and related financial documents.

Unusual working conditions:
- Various site visits from time to time. This position may be subject to exposure to height conditions, noise, untidy, and potentially hazardous site conditions and occasional exposure to unpleasant weather conditions.
- Immediate decision making with high risk to the University can lead to occasional high levels of stress.
- Departmental workloads can require overtime work on a regular basis.
