You will be responsible for the development and testing of embedded controls requirements, and software that meet OBD regulatory requirements and industry best practices for diagnostics. This position involves a combination of analytical, in-vehicle and laboratory analysis, along with related performance verification to ensure robust execution of diagnostic and controls features!
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of OBD compliant controls and diagnostic strategies, and algorithms for safety and emissions related components, sub-systems, and OBD smart devices
Work closely with multi-disciplined engineering teams to understand functional requirements, and implement appropriate diagnostic and control solutions
Develop test apparatus and test automation methodologies for the performance of HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop), SIL (Software-in-the-Loop), bench and/or vehicle testing
Build, maintain, and complete test plans and procedures
Test and debug software using models, controller hardware, and vehicles to perform HIL/SIL and vehicle Integration testing
Analyze test results and participate in data-driven system development initiatives
Work with GM internal teams – Calibrators, Vehicle Integration Teams, etc.
Implement project plans with appropriate technical guidance
Warranty analysis of diagnostic performance in the field to identify and advance emerging issue
Occasional travel as required
Required Qualifications:
Pursuit of a Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year) or Master's degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering
Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week in Canada and for 12-month term (3 consecutive semesters) starting September 2023
Have a valid Class G Ontario Driver’s Licence, or equivalent out-of-province licence
Experience with Controls Algorithm and Software development, implementation, and testing of real-time embedded controls systems
Ability and motivation to learn new technologies, and employ systems engineering and controls principles to make such technologies practical
What will give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Ability to travel to the US
Experience/knowledge with dSPACE/Control Desk, or similar HIL/SIL tools
Experience/knowledge with ETAS/INCA, Intrepid/Vehicle Spy, or similar DAQ tools
Experience with signal processing such as signal filtering and frequency domain analysis
Experience working with Agile/Scrum development processes and tools
