Job Description
The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is seeking applications from qualified individuals to provide timely and efficient accounting and financial analysis support for the UPEI Comptroller’s Office. This position will report to the Senior Financial Accountant.
The Comptroller’s Office is responsible for the financial oversight and management of the University including the operating budget, financial and taxation reporting, internal controls, financial systems, and financial policies and processes. As stewards of the University, the Office supports and promotes the University's mission by providing financial leadership and innovation in business strategy and processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working closely within the Comptroller’s Office team, as Finance Officer you will be responsible for:
- Financial analysis with attention to details and deadlines, including:
- Reconciliation and analysis of various accounts and cost centres
- Querying data using various software applications
- Preparation of year-end working papers
- Providing support for various external audits
- Preparation of journal entries
- Supporting budget processes, including:
- Assisting in development of University’s annual operating budget
- Ad hoc budget reporting for internal stakeholders
- Calculating salary and benefit projections
- Communicating with budget holders
- Preparation of budget adjustments
- Reviewing and working with relevant confidential and sensitive data
- Attentiveness to compliance regarding University policies and procedures, contracts, and internal and external restrictions on University funds
- Providing support to other Finance staff as requested
- Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:- Successful completion of a two-year post-secondary program in accounting or office-related course work with related work experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – verbal and written
- Detailed knowledge of and advanced experience in working with computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets, and database software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in a University setting is not required but would be considered an asset
