Allied Universal® is currently seeking a Regional Human Resources Manager. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for supporting the corporate strategy and operating objectives of their assigned business region by providing advisory services, support, and guidance in the functional area of Human Resources This role manages and implements HR programs in adherence to corporate standards. This position takes complaints concerning discrimination, sexual harassment, and workplace harassment and provides investigative assistance in such matters when necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure employee files are complete and up to date as well as ensuring that employee work permits are accurate and valid in ADP
- Support employee recognition programs within the branch
- Supports branches in designated region by conducting employee relations investigations
- Works through to resolution of new and ongoing employee relations issues, such as complaints, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans
- Effectively handles and resolves employee complaints and grievances and assist with arbitrations
- Ensures labor relations policies and procedures used within the organization align with current process and approach across designated region
- Provides guidance and interpretation on Collective Bargaining Agreements within assigned region
- Ensures compliance on all provisions within the Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Proactively communicates with senior management any issues that may have a significant impact to the business
- Ensure proper documentation and records of all grievances and arbitrations
- Collaborate, build, and maintain positive relationships with employees, management, and union representative
- Assist with renegotiations of Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Assist with WSIB/RTW where required (differs by region/branch) in partnership with Health & Safety Director
- Assist with implementation of OT averaging agreements
- Assist with Layoffs and layoff notices
- Facilitate quarterly learning sessions for Operational Managers on understanding of collective agreements, disciplinary processes, etc.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual in French and English is highly preferred
- Formal Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required:
- Must possess one or more of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Behavior, Business, or a related field with one (1) year of human resources generalist work experience
- Associate's degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Behavior, Business, or a related field with three (3) years of human resources generalist work experience
- High School diploma with five (5) years of human resources generalist experience
- Type and Length of Specific Experience Required:
- Prior work experience with employee relations, development, and engagement as well as policy implementation and interpretation
- Working knowledge of employment laws and civil rights legislation
