Ophthalmology assistant/MOA position available to start later August or early September
Valued young adult employee will be relocating to Edmonton to attend College.
Monday to Thursday full time (30-32 hrs/week) available for suitable candidate
800 am to 400 pm
Potential to work Friday mornings

Busy ophthalmology practice requires the following individuals:

- Commitment to provide exemplary patient care
- Establish excellent rapport with patients
- Work well in a team-oriented clinical environment
- Assist with direct patient care by performing diagnostic testing
- Excellent computer skills
- Patience working with senior population
- Multi tasking abilities
- Able to complete tasks with a high level of efficiency and accuracy
- Reliability
Duties include:
- Pre examination medical history documentation
- Visual acuity testing
- Auto refraction
- Intra ocular pressure testing
- Instilling eye drops
- Optic nerve and retinal imaging
- Visual field testing
- Cataract surgery measurements
- Patient education on eye diseases eg glaucoma , macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eyes etc
- Cataract surgery information, instructions , forms, booking
- Entering information into ACCURO electronic medical record (EMR) , scribing
- Cleaning of exam rooms
- MOA/Reception duties - booking appointments, calling patients confirming appointments, OR bookings, chart preparation, filing, inventory, sterilization of instruments
- Cross training for Dr. Michael Buchanan internal medicine/rheumatology practice
Previous medical, ophthalmic or optometric, nursing, dental, pharmacy,veterinary, food service, hospitality experience/background an asset but not necessary. Suitable candidates will be trained.
