Summary
Guelph Solar has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Operations Manager to coordinate and oversee the operations of our organization for residential and commercial solar installations and maintenance in Guelph and the surrounding areas. The Operations Manager is accountable to the General Manager for a successful, efficient, and profitable Operations department through the implementation of processes and best practices.
The duties of the Operations Manager include improving performance, managing team members, procuring materials and resources, and formulating strategy. The Operations Manager will mentor team members and find ways to increase quality of installations and customer service. The Operations Manager will work closely with install, engineering, and electrical staff in day-to-day tasks to ensure the smooth and successful completion of each project. The Operations Manager will be a key point of contact for the field crew and customers throughout the installation process.
Please note that this is not a remote position. The selected candidate will primarily work from Guelph Solar’s office, located in Guelph.
Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices.
- Provide leadership, training, development, and disciplinary action for all team members in engineering, installation, maintenance, electrical, monitoring, and safety.
- Maintain positive employee relations and build a culture of trust and empowerment.
- Implement performance review process for Team Leads, installers, electrical and engineering staff.
- Set clear goals and expectations with team members and ensure accountability.
- Monitor work and processes to make certain that installation projects are managed correctly and efficiently from start to finish.
- Ensure a safe and healthy workplace by being familiar with, and overseeing, all of Guelph Solar safety rules and ensuring proper adherence takes place and is documented.
- Ensure all operations are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way.
- Purchase materials, plan inventory, and oversee yard and jobsite efficiency.
- Formulate strategic and operational objectives.
- Examine financial data and use them to improve profitability.
- Set and manage budgets and forecasts for the Operations department.
- Perform quality controls and manage key performance indicators.
- Find ways to increase quality of customer service.
- Long range planning of staffing levels and space utilization to account for growth and the changing needs of the business.
- Interact with clients, suppliers and subcontractors in a friendly, professional manner.
- Prepare communications and progress reporting.
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as Operations Manager or similar role and knowledge of organizational effectiveness.
- Degree in Business, Operations Management, or related field.
- Passion for solar and being a part of a progressive, purpose-driven organization.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Outstanding customer service, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Leadership ability with a constructive approach to challenges.
- Experience budgeting and forecasting.
- Familiarity with business and financial principles.
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
- Exceptional listening and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and task delegation abilities.
- Outstanding attention to detail and a very high degree of accuracy.
- Desire to encourage others to reach their full potential and deliver their best work.

- Proficient in MS Suite, with a desire to learn additional software applications as needed to support and enhance departmental goals.
- Knowledge of solar and electrical is an asset, not required.
- Valid G Driver's License is required.
Education: Bachelor's degree or post-secondary certificate/diploma.
Experience: Minimum 3+ years’ experience in an Operations Supervisor or Manager role.

Salary: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
