OPERATIONS MANAGER
Under the supervision of the General Director, the Operations Manager plans and oversees receiving/shipping operations to ensure exceptional levels of internal service quality and customer service.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Manage inventories and ensure the accuracy of incoming and outgoing equipment from the Toronto branch.
- Maximize the efficiency of storage in warehouses and yards and the fluidity of activities in them.
- Manage the preparation and receipt of orders as well as related documentation.
- Manage the maintenance of rental equipment. Ensure a quality of material up to the standards of the company.
- Manage the manufacturing of new scaffolding parts as required.
- Inventory management.
- Maximize the efficiency of court operations.
- Actively participate in a good control of the budget of operations.
- Mobilize, plan, and supervise the operations team. To assign daily tasks.
- Ensure that the work methods and tools used by employees are efficient, safe, and meet the company's quality standards.
- Maintain a pleasant work environment and a positive team spirit.
- Manage the operations team's schedule. Authorize overtime, requests for schedule changes, leave, absences, etc.
- In collaboration with the Human Resources and Executive Department, manage the recruitment, hiring, training, layoff, and dismissal of employees of the operations team.
- Enforce company policies, regulations, and employment contracts. Manage first-level disciplinary action for non-compliance.
- Collaborate in the management of workplace accident cases. Have the documents completed, collaborate in the follow-up for medical visits and temporary assignment. Conduct accident investigations if necessary.
- Identify training needs within the yard team and participate in the search for training solutions with management.
- Evaluate the performance of its staff. Conduct annual reviews of members of the operations team.
- Ensures the cleanliness of its operations.
- Be a first responder in emergencies/contingencies in site management.
- Participate in the purchase of raw materials and goods and services of his department according to the policy in force.
- Manage the customer service provided by his team.
- Work closely with all areas of the organization.
- Train forklift operators.
Any other related duties established by his/her superior.
Key Requirements and Competencies
- Minimum 3 years of experience in yard/warehouse and/or logistics and/or shipping/receiving operations as well as in an inventory management and control, related environment, and personnel management.
- College Degree (an asset)
- Experience in scaffolding or site equipment rental (an asset).
- Experience as a forklift operator.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication (an asset).
- Good physical condition and ability to work mostly outdoor.
- Leadership, good communicator, strong team spirit, interpersonal skills, positive attitude.
- Well-developed sense of customer service.
- Ability to manage more than one task at a time, analyzing and managing priorities.
- Intermediate computer knowledge (Microsoft Office).
