We design and develop ZEMA, a sophisticated suite of products that provide clients with powerful capabilities for data collection, process automation, and business intelligence through web based analytical tools, services, and dashboards. We are looking to expand our market domain through active campaigning and sales engagement. Our head office is in Richmond, BC, and we have operations in Calgary, Houston, Raleigh, New York, London, and Singapore.

The Product Marketing Specialist must be an orchestrator, ensuring all relevant groups collaborate on and execute a shared go-to-market strategy for solutions that combine multiple products and services.
Working with the Product Management and Sales team, the role will have primary or shared responsibilities for:
- Collaborating with executives, product management, marketing, business solutions, market data services team, and research & development to define new ways to position and Market the ZEMA suite
- Develop clear and differentiated product positioning and messaging that resonates with the target audience in the energy, trading, and commodities sector. Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer interviews to identify unique value propositions and key differentiators. Craft compelling messaging to effectively communicate the benefits of ZEMA Suite and its capabilities.
- Performing market research (primary and secondary) to segment the market and establish buyer insight, identifying what opportunities, challenges and dynamics exist for the organization and its portfolio of solutions.
- Developing and collaborating on go-to-market strategies to bring best-in-class solutions to market through effective, well managed launch campaigns
- Equip the sales team with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively articulate the value of ZEMA and overcome customer objections. Provide ongoing support and training to ensure sales success.
- Validating the alignment between the solution offering and the identified target segments and ideal customer profiles
- Outlining strengths and weaknesses of the current offer and ZEMA solution
- Working with several departments to define the messaging, content, tools and programs that will be required to bring a solution to market or increase traction for existing offers. Collaborate with the customer success team to gather customer feedback and incorporate it into product enhancements and marketing strategies.
A Product Marketing Specialist must ensure that compelling and impactful communications are created and delivered by:
- Developing clear and crisp solution positioning for a set of products and services that will guide messaging and other go-to-market strategies
- Ensuring that solution positioning is comprehensive and explains the additive value of multiple products or services
- Working with marketing to explore and define the core questions and FAQ's buyers need to have addressed throughout their buying and owning life cycles
- Crafting storylines to communicate value, and that can be applied and contextualized for different buying scenarios
- Articulating solution stories within the context of the larger brand storyline
- Helping to create and execute a content strategy that supports all stages of the buying journey through the channels and formats most valued by buyers
- Inspiring and contributing to thought leadership development and delivery

Excellent communication skills:
- Must be able to command and sustain attention, and be a natural, authentic storyteller
- Must be able to determine when to probe for additional lessons and when to push forward
- Must be able to deliver clear, compelling and articulate written and verbal communications
Creative skills:
- Has a good eye for evaluating creative design options that will resonate with target buyers
- Open to experimenting with new approaches and establishing KPIs that can help determine effectiveness
- Ability to balance innovation against known and effective approaches
Analytical skills:
- Ability to analyze and understand the underlying business problem(s) for buyer organizations
- Ability to identify signals and measures that can be incorporated into KPIs
- Ability to analyze and interpret disparate datasets to derive insights
- Willingness to change direction based on results illustrated through analytics and feedback
- Fortitude to acknowledge mistakes unearthed through measures, and ability to pivot rapidly to adjust
Managerial skills:
- Build relationships and collaboration with functions outside of product marketing, including corporate communications, demand generation, marketing, channel& partner marketing, product management, software engineering, sales, customer success, business solutions, and IT
- Experience in selecting and managing external resources
- Ability to manage upward in the organization to influence executives, as well as down
- 5+ years experience of B2B marketing and business strategy, with 3+ years in a product marketing role defining and executing the go-to-market strategy. Formal education in product management or product marketing is a plus
- Strong quantitative analytical ability and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to craft compelling and succinct positioning, messaging, and differentiation in enterprise software space
- Think strategically and analytically, then follow through to execution with unyielding attention to details
- Experience with deriving market insights primarily through quantitative methods
- Results-oriented with a positive "can-do" attitude to get things done
- Experience developing strategic direction and executing go-to-market plans
- Marketing experience in the Energy and Commodity industries is a bonus
