Position: Family Program Coordinator
Background: Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House is a vibrant Neighbourhood House serving the Kensington-Cedar
Cottage Community since 1950. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to work as part of a team to support our efforts to build strong neighbourhoods where people connect, belong and thrive.
Who you are: The Family Program Coordinator will have a deep understanding of Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House with a demonstrated commitment for reconciliation, anti-racism and social justice. We are looking for a people person and a leader who understands the work and values of family resource programs and is able to build independence and capacity for families in our community.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities: Under the Supervision of the Community Programs Director, the Family Program
Coordinator will lead and/or ensure quality in Family Resource Programs, Mother Goose, Nobody’s Perfect, Health Fairs,
Family Literacy Activities, Parent Education, Culture events, individual family support and partnerships with public and community partners (e.g., schools, health and library services).
This position builds on longstanding programs for children and families in community programs related to food literacy, afterschool programs, community gardening, child care and special events. This work includes program management in communication, community engagement, program development and contract compliance.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Undergraduate degree or equivalent in social work, child and youth care, education or other human service discipline with 1 – 2 years experience in the voluntary sector
- Skilled, knowledgeable and experienced in local community engagement and planning work including recruitment, management and retention of diverse volunteers.
- Able to participate in on-going learning about reconciliation, anti-racism and social justice and to be active in applying knowledge learned to program development
- Knowledge of research and direct experience of what families need and what fosters strong family capacity-this includes the ability to think systemically to know how families navigate their services
- Knowledge and experience of Neighbourhood House work, particularly community based program development and delivery
- Able to demonstrate computer skills and be willing to learn new technologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Fluent in other languages an asset.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes Saturdays.

Salary & Benefits: PC1 Step 3- (ANHBC Grid) $29.56 (35 hours). Competitive benefits package incl group medical and pension; hourly/salary range
Terms of Employment: 35 hours per week
