About the MNjcc:
The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre is a dynamic hub in downtown Toronto. It provides opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to be active, learn, connect and participate in a wide range of cultural experiences. Rooted in Jewish values, the MNjcc is open to all. Founded on this site in 1953 the MNjcc is home to a state-of-the-art Fitness Centre, the Al Green Theatre, four schools, three choirs, a wide range of arts and cultural activities, and Jewish Community programming.
Short Description of the Position:
Under the supervision and guidance of the Associate Director, Jewish Community Inclusion and Engagement, the Jewish Community Family Programmer will be an energetic community builder who is passionate about creating meaningful opportunities of connection to Jewish community, history, culture, and traditions for the diverse families of downtown Toronto.
Schedule:
- This position is work from home, with in-person event-based work as required.
- Program-based evenings and weekends are required as needed
- 20 hours/week. Schedule is flexible and to be determined with your supervisor.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program and lead a weekly Shabbat Song Circle program, Friday mornings at the J (10-week sessions in fall, winter and spring) (20% of your time)
- Coordinate and lead 7+ family-centered Jewish holiday celebration programs per year (Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot, Chanukah, Tu B’Shvat, Purim, Passover, Lag Ba’Omer). Create and deliver age-appropriate, inclusive, and meaningful arts, social and educational-based programming for families that support growth in our Jewish community work. (50% of your time)
- Program family-centered components of broader community celebrations and programs (Shavuot, Pride, Family Day) (10% of your time)
- Work collaboratively in partnership with other religious and cultural institutions from the Toronto Jewish community and beyond
Administrative duties (20% of your time)
- Liaise with support departments including Bookings, Security, Facilities and Desks
- Work with MNjcc’s Marketing department to build a marketing and communications plan for further growth and sustainability.
- Creatively support the recruitment and retention of family connection and community outreach strategies at the MNjcc
- Budgeting and expense reconciliation, including supporting annual department budgeting
- Support and collaborate on other programs in the Jewish community department, as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 1-3 years' experience as a cultural or community programmer
- Experience working with children & families
- Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada.
- While working in-person, all existing procedures around vaccination and PPE (personal protective equipment) must be followed.

Salary and Benefits:
- Salary range is $19-$22 per hour, 20 hours per week.
- Membership for yourself at the MNjcc fitness centre.
