This person is responsible for executing specific project related activities during the project's life cycle such as: project financial and schedule analysis, reporting, closure, and various customer related activities.
Position summary
The Project Controller's main function is to control project progress and performance. The incumbent also assists project managers with activity and resource planning and other aspects of project management (risk, time, cost, quality and content management, shipments, etc.).
The following qualifications, without being exhaustive, indicate the type of skills, responsibilities and deliverables required of the Project Controller.
Manage project management processes and systems:
- Actively participate in the project authorization process alongside the Planner to understand the financial structure of the project/program
- Track and maintain invoicing and payment schedules.
- Perform monthly financial analysis and support project review cycles.
- Identify discrepancies and evaluate impacts.
- Process change requests and scenario based analysis.
- Implement changes to project finances – manage data and systems.
- Administer cost lines.
- Support risk tracking system.
- Administrative tasks
Execute project governance:
- Evaluate cost/schedule/performance key performance Indicators (Including EVM).
- Analyze discrepancies between the estimated, actual time and cost spent on a given project.
- Produce Project / Program Review documentation.
- Liaise with PMO analyst group.
Ensure proper project documentation and communication:
- Open and maintain collaborative environments.
- Produce or manage the Client required documentation.
- Produce commercial invoices.
- Produce Client required documentation.
Requirements
The incumbent will provide daily support in executing the control processes. The incumbent will report to the Group Leader, Project Control.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in administration or finance with 2 to 5 years of experience , equivalent combination related to project planning and control OR DEC with 8 years of experience in a project management environment, ideally with long-term projects.
- Project Management certification an asset.
- Minimum experience in a Project Management Office.
- Relevant experience in an industrial environment.
- Good organizational skills.
- Accuracy and precision.
- Good interpersonal skills, diplomatic.
- Good communication skills (written and spoken).
- Ability to manage one's time and multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Program management, MS Project and ERP environment experience an asset.
- Prepares invoices for formatting and delivery by the finance department and follows up on invoices until payment is received.
- Calls back clients in consultation with the Director, Projects.
- Focuses on the key indicators of a project: cost assessment, margin, cash and sales recognition.
- Considers all aspects of a project, both financial and non-financial, to determine their effects on the overall financial assessment.
- From signing until final acceptance, monitors and analyzes all financial aspects of contracts (budget, finances, revenue, currency handling and forecasting).
- Manages contract administration (initiates and monitors invoices and payments, implements project structures, monitors deliverables). Understands project schedule progress and analyzes delays.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- At ease in a HW and SW engineering environment.
- Autonomous.
- CAE employees must be able to meet the requirements of the Canada Controlled Good Program (CGP), and in certain cases, ITAR requirements.

- Bilingualism in both French and English is required.
