The new campus will provide a cutting-edge work environment that fosters collaboration and innovation.JOB OVERVIEWOntario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for several dynamic, strategic and results-driven professionals to join our team in the role of Manager, Project Controls based in Pickering, ON and Bowmanville, ON.The Manager, Project Controls is responsible for supervising a section comprising of professional and technical staff engaged in project planning and control activities. This role will provide leadership in project controls including cost, schedule, risk, integration, change control, and/or scope management to support Projects. The Manager, Project Controls, will participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and training programs. This individual may be assigned one of more areas of accountability including reporting, scheduling, cost management, and/or integration management.This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to Ontario Power Generation’s continued growth and success in generating safe, clean, reliable low-cost power in a sustainable manner.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESPlan, organize, schedule, and coordinate work of staff. Assign tasks and provide instructions.Make effective recommendations to Supervisor regarding staff issues in specified areas such as training, transfer, promotion, selection, and discipline.Administer collective agreements and jurisdictional precedents for the purpose of assigning work to appropriate trade and/or industrial bargaining group.Provide advice and solve problems associated with department facilities and specific project control elements.Identify potential problems and opportunities in assigned areas and/or systems in the facility. Asses, evaluate, diagnose, identify and recommend initial disposition of the problems.Instruct staff through lecture, on the job training, procedures, tools and templates.Review and update specified department procedures, tools, processes, and templates.Initiate studies or investigations where opportunities for improvement are apparent.Participate in training programs to further own development and the development of staff. Attend lectures, perform assignments, and write examinations. Prepare training material and provide lectures on specific topics.Contribute to the preparation of the department’s annual budget. Provide cost estimates for new products and update costs of existing functions for input into department budgets.Develops, implements, maintains, and promotes the use of industry proven best project management practices in the Enterprise Projects organization.Establishes, communicates, implements, and reinforces project management standards.Identifies project controls software requirements and ensure requirement dates meet planned implementation dates to support overall project objectives.May be assigned one or more areas of accountability including reporting, scheduling, cost management, and/or integration management:Reporting – Ensures project reporting and metric requirements are established and accurately produced per required reporting cycles. Coordinates and prepares reports for both internal and external stakeholders.Scheduling – Maintains the program and project schedules. Establishes and maintains schedules for all deliverables on all projects. Generates required schedule reports to support project management activities. Performs reviews of change orders and analyze impact on schedule baselines.Cost Management – Maintains the cost management system including establishment of cost baselines, change control, collection of actual, forecasts, earned value to enable effective reporting. Identifies and corrects data errors as quickly as possible and escalates ongoing data problems for resolution and tracks to completion. Generates required cost reports to support project management activities.Integration – Maintains a record of all governance and integration of governance with tools. Manages the departments self-assessment, quality assurance, and quality control programs. Performs periodic assessments and identifies areas for improvement. Coordinates the work of project control staff.EDUCATIONUniversity degree or equivalent experience in project management, project controls, finance, engineering, or a related fieldPMP is considered an asset.QUALIFICATIONS5+ years’ experience in Nuclear, Project Controls, Project Management, and/or related fields.3+ years’ experience in a leadership role.Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulationsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.Strong planning, managerial, and leadership skills.
