The opportunity:
The University of Manitoba is looking for a Schools Project Coordinator. The position will be responsible for collecting general information on Manitoba’s hog industry, reviewing the Manitoba Science and Social Science curriculum links for Grades 3 to 12, create presentations and learning activities.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- Completion of a formal training program in a related discipline from a recognized institute required.
- Degree or Diploma level in Agriculture, Food Science, Nutrition, Education, Human Ecology preferred.
- Minimum of two years of directly related experience required.
- Proficient knowledge of Manitoba’s science and social science curriculum is required.
- Experience in developing engaging presentations, programs, or activities for youth, (especially grades 3-12) and public is required.
- Experience delivering programming, presentations or leading activities to a wide variety of audiences is required.
- Program and activity evaluation skills are preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must possess a philosophy compatible with modern, conventional agricultural practices.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint) required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
- Event planning and program development and evaluation skills are required.
- Proficient in the use of Apple and Windows Operating Systems preferred.
- Ability to multi-task and meet numerous deadlines required.
- Ability to take research finding to producers, industry and public through knowledge translation, transfer, and mobilization is required.
- Ability to communicate information based on sound science to address consumer related agri-food issues that address public trust and social license required.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Reliable and trustworthy, with high energy level and a positive attitude, enjoy challenges, and cope well with change required.
- Creative mind, with capacity to bring interesting and modern ideas to programming required.
- Must have a strong work ethic.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.

Part-time hours: 0-20 per week
Salary: $27.91-$39.34 per hour
