If that sounds like a challenge you want to help tackle, we want you to join our team!Posting Close Date: August 1st, 2023The OpportunityOur Canada Gas Project Excellence team is currently looking to add a Project Engineer to our growing team in Calgary, AB.Reporting to the Manager, Project Excellence, this position will help the Canada Gas Project organization drive continuous improvement opportunities that have both immediate and sustainable impact, while enabling the Canada Gas BU to achieve the 2023 toll competitiveness and cost savings targets.What you’ll do
- Lead working teams of professionals and internal subject matter experts (SME) responsible for developing and implementing continuous improvement opportunities that provide the basis for making multi-year and critical business decisions
- Champion continuous improvement and manage and/or support change initiatives
- Actively participate, provide input, govern, and collaborate with the CA GAS Projects Teams during the development and implementation of projects
- Manage, prioritize, and demonstrate ownership over value engineering opportunities to ensure Project Teams are support and issues are being resolved in alignment with business priorities (immediate response, engineering issues, regulatory and process improvement opportunities)
- Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and conflict
- Provide and improve governance, standards, metrics, and reporting that meet the needs of all stakeholders within CA GAS Projects
- Work with internal teams and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to encourage continuous improvement and align with the overall initiative business strategy and associated technical center programs and initiatives (CDL, ERM6, Project Focus, etc.)
- Engage external contractors and Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) for support in evaluating and implementing Value Engineering opportunities
- Write and review technical documents including decision summaries and commentaries focused on Value Engineering opportunities
- Support Contract Management best practice opportunities in reviewing and writing contract amendments, analyzing changes and claims, developing alternative contracting strategies, managing third-party consultants and contractors, and implementing training programs
- Chair meetings and prepare/participate in presentations to audiences that include project teams, engineering teams, governance teams and senior leadership
- Be a leader in Safety; Role model the Life Saving Rules (LSR) and adhere to the Life Saving Rules and all company procedures to ensure the safe operation of construction, the protection of personnel, our environment, our customers, and the people of the communities in which we do business
- Meet with and/or coordinate activities with the technical center, governance team, vendors and supply chain team and other internal and external stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications- Post-Secondary Degree in Engineering
- Registered, or eligible to register, with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good-standing
- 6 years’ experience in a related role, including proven experience with version control and change management processes, policies, and principles
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Project Management processes, tools and techniques
- Skilled at solving ambiguous problems and working in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Substantial experience leading and overseeing large projects, including integrity and reliability projects (IEPI)
