Location: Grand River Regional Cancer Centre
POSITION : Full Time Oncology Genetics Assistant
HOURS OF WORK : 7.5 hour shifts
Summary:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Biology or Genetics from an accredited university with evidence of understanding of research and interpretation of scientific and medical literature
Qualifications :
- International genetic assistant program certification an asset
- Previous related experience in a Genetics/Clinical setting minimum of 1 year is preferred
- Oncology genetics clinic experience preferred
- Knowledge of genetics principles and theory preferred
- Excellent communication skills, ability to impart knowledge to others in a professional and personable manner required
- Ability to research and synthesize information
- Strong computing skills including Microsoft office and database knowledge required
- Knowledge of CERNER system/Powerchart, Progeny an asset
- Ability to work in an unsupervised setting and take initiative for program mandate
- Accuracy and attention to detail essential
