Job Description
As a Human Resources Recruiter/Administrator, you will be primarily responsible for recruiting top candidates for all of Modern’s locations. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work independently and also thrive in a collaborative atmosphere are must haves.
A working knowledge of Canadian employment laws, HRIS knowledge, love for recruiting, dependability, proactivity, ability to persuade and a keen eye for detail are keys to success in this role.
Job Responsibilities:
Recruitment
- Source top quality talent by employing the latest and most innovative research techniques to identify potential top-quality candidates utilizing multiple avenues including internet search engines, database searches, social media, referral networks, and 3rd Party Agencies;
- Build a strategic and targeted sourcing plan for each job requisition based on research results. Critically and accurately assess candidate capabilities employing best practices in interviewing to discern and identify the highest quality and most qualified candidates from the sourced pool;
- Persuasively sell the Modern employment value proposition to the identified candidates by using influencing skills and create a positive experience for each candidate contacted;
- Assess talent according to the needs of the business and recommend a short list of potential candidates and influence business leaders on the highest quality candidates that meet the current and future capability needs and cultural and values fit of the organization;
- Partner with HR Manager and other Managers to make final hiring decisions and negotiate offers with candidates;
- Set up interviews, store trials and oversee the entire full-cycle recruitment and onboarding process, making sure to deliver top notch candidate experience;
- Ability to create and update job descriptions as responsibilities change while having a firm understanding of all employee’s role;
- Analyze turnover and retention concerns, then build a plan to reduce cost associated with recruitment;
Employee Maintenance
- Ensure all new employees are entered into the system;
- Follow up with new employees to ensure onboarding process is seamless;
- Assist in planning and executing team building activities;
- Help with organizing weekly Wednesday meeting;
- Monitor time off (appointments, holiday and leave of absence requests)- All employees should inform HR if they are unable to come into work, and HR is to inform department Manager;
- Maintenance of Time Clock (employee tracking system);
- Updating employee hour reports (via Time Clock) daily, company-wide;
- Communicating with Managers about employee attendance concerns (i.e. tardiness, excessive sick days, etc);
- Participate in the administration of HR policies and procedures in employee termination or disciplinary action;
- Work with departments to ensure that all training manuals are current and up-to-date
- Keep record of all verbal and written disciplinary notices;
- Ensure proper handling and compliance with laws and regulations, and in reflection of company policies;
- Collaborate with HR Manager to map out strategies for employee retention;
- Conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations and share findings and make recommendations on possible changes;
Staffing Support
- Employee relations;
- Avoid favoritism or company gossip (no tolerance);
- Provide judgment in a confidential and diplomatic manner;
- Open door policy for employees to see you and feel comfortable to discuss their challenges;
- Assist in refereeing of staff disputes;
- Identify and resolve questions and concerns pertaining to HR and work-related issues;
- Assist in responding to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs;
- Encourage and lead a pleasant company culture for all staff;
Other
- Creating a positive impact company wide
- Assisting others with their role/duties as required (i.e. answering phones for Customer Care)
- Help organize company events (Modern Rocks the Runway, Trade Shows, Big Sales, etc)
- Help with the maintenance of health and safety information and programs
- Be available for a few weekends in the year to assist in events (i.e. Inventory Days, AGM, etc)
