Job Description
- The employee will provide daily supervision, relationship and service to you who are registered in the Compass Classroom program as they present with multiple and complex needs.
- The employee will act to provide and maintain a safe, stable and secure environment within the classroom and the Attendance Centre
- The employee will be actively involved, supportive and committed to a team approach of the agency by geing an active member of a multidisciplinary team and integrated system
- The employee will supervise students during classroom academic and break times and intervene accordingly
- The employee will assist students on a daily basis with problem solving in order to promote their participation and success in an academic setting and future re-integration to community school
- The employee will assess and identify daily and ongoing needs using appropriate methods relative to housing, employment, health and any other challenge or social emotional barrier to academic success and provide information and resources to students relative to their needs
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in a human services related field
- minimum of three (3) years demonstrated experience working with high risk youth
- able to work as a member of a team and experience in multi-disciplinary practice
- training or demonstrated experience in Violence Threat Risk Assessments (V-TRA) by the Canadian Council for Threat Assessment and Trauma Response for school settings
- Police Record Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
- NVCI, CPR, First Aid Certificate, immunization record, medical and a valid Ontario Class "G: driver's license are required prior to working directly with clients
- Demonstrated fluency in French and English is considered an asset
- Diversity and multilingualism is considered an asset
