BIS Safety Software is a fast-paced, high-growth software company providing solutions for the safety industry - a tech company that helps keep people safe at work. We are expanding our team and seeking a full-time People and Culture team member.
The Opportunity
We are looking for someone with real world experience, who has had the opportunity to take on HR responsibilities and tasks regardless of their formal education. Have you had to hire people? Do you have experience with onboarding, culture building, team member development, and handling related admin tasks associated with these responsibilities? While we believe that an HR education is valuable, we also believe that learning in real world situations is a wonderful teacher. This role is an in-person position in our Sherwood Park office.

- Great with technology, and with software. We are a software company after all, and are looking for tech savvy individuals
- A self-starter with the ability to anticipate needs and see what has to be done before being asked to do it
- Full recruiting cycle activities including developing job postings, reviewing applications, pre-screening candidates, interviews, conducting reference checks, and engaging with candidates at every stage
- Ensuring all our candidates and all our existing team members have an amazing experience through every stage of their career
- Taking ownership of the development and delivery of onboarding programs for new team members
- Helping to build proactive sourcing strategies and talent pipelines for priority business areas
- Maintaining accurate and up to date record keeping for all HR related activities, including personnel files, candidate workflows, and best practice documentation
- Ensuring positive relationships with all team members is fostered, and assisting in the resolution of issues among team members and on behalf of BIS
- Supporting skill development and growth opportunities for team members through ongoing learning and development initiatives
- Maintaining a strong knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, the Canada Labour Code and other relevant legislation
- Additional HR duties as required. We are a small and collaborative department - you will be involved in all HR related tasks
- 2+ years of experience in a role that includes HR tasks, including recruiting and onboarding
- HR education is an asset, but not required.
- Real world experience is a must
- Strong computing skills with experience using an ATS as well as MS Office products such as Excel, Word and SharePoint
Salary ranges are based on experience, reflecting the unique skillset each individual brings to the role.
