Position Summary
Working in conjunction with internal departments, this position will provide hands-on operations training with the assistance of site-specific trainers. This role is responsible to develop, maintain and present material to support our operations employees in learning about the industry, our systems, policies, procedures and other related information. The focus is on customs-specific training and development.
Key Responsibilities (Supervisory/Materials/Information)
- Develop and deliver presentations, training courses, or instructions to staff.
- Research, design, and prepare technical/instructional material – teaching aides.
- Monitor course effectiveness and obtain feedback from and provide feedback/recommendations to management. Prepare reports as needed.
- Liaise with Human Resources in the scheduling of training courses as well as the printing of course material.
- Develop and nurture relationships with schools (secondary and post-secondary) to help establish a pipe-line of candidates for Farrow; assist with onboarding operations co-op students and monitor their progress and experience with Farrow.
- Supervise Operations Training Coordinators in their day-to-day functions and provide training and coaching. Maintain employee records and attendance. Evaluate and monitor employees and conduct performance reviews.
- Complete project and administrative related duties as assigned.
- Other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Customs Administration or Business or related discipline
- A minimum 3 years of progressive experience in customs
- Completed and maintained Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation.
- Supervisory / management experience preferred.

- The position requires high levels of public interaction; hence, the candidate should operate enthusiastically to support the learning environment and possess excellent communication skills.
- Above average knowledge and experience with using Microsoft Office products.
- Extensive user knowledge of internal systems and processes in order to properly train incoming employees.
Working Conditions, Mental Effort & Physical Requirements
- Deal with multiple requests which have tight deadlines.
- Concentration when preparing presentations and course material as well as working on inquiries/projects which are under tight time constraints.
- Travel (usually automobile and perhaps some airplane) is also a requirement of this position and may require overnight or more time away from their home.
- Standing for a long period of time while doing presentations.
- Travel – concentration on the road.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop and/or written materials for extended periods of time.
