About Cascade:
Cascade is a fintech startup backed by Canadian and US investors that empowers companies to grow by democratizing access to institutional debt. We are building tools that modernize how companies raise and manage debt, lowering the barriers to entry to the $7 trillion private credit market for companies around the world. We were founded last year and have been growing fast so are looking for someone to set the tone for our next phase of technical development.
We’re a fully remote company and our tech stack includes Typescript, React, Node.js, Nest, Postgres, dbt, and Databricks.
About the role:
As the VP of Software Engineering you’ll be a key part of the leadership team building a pioneering SaaS platform in the debt infrastructure space. This is an opportunity to get in at the ground floor and build a great engineering culture. We’re looking for someone who can balance engineering quality with business delivery and shape the core architecture that can scale our platform to meet the demands of a trillion-dollar market. You will be responsible for managing software development teams, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality products, and crafting our tech strategy.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, manage, mentor, and develop the engineering team to build a supportive, high performance culture
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive business results and develop a platform that delights customers
- Recruit and retain software engineering staff by participating in recruiting and interviewing
- Work with other departments as needed to collaborate on projects that span outside of engineering
- Define best practices and crafting a strategic vision to build a best in class tech architecture
- Roll up your sleeves and contribute to the code base or work directly with engineers in the highest priority areas
Skills And Experience
- Deep knowledge and understanding of software engineering principles, technologies and best practices
- Ability to operate in a fast-moving environment supporting a rapidly growing business
- 8+ years of software development experience with 5+ years managing engineers with a track record of achieving business goals
- Broad experience in multiple domain areas, especially in data related areas
- Architecture abilities and the capacity to design resilient distributed systems that are flexible and scalable.
- Track record of creative problem solving and the desire to create and build new processes at the appropriate scale
