Our customer base includes Air Canada, WestJet, Canadian Coast Guard, Purolator, Petro Canada, Home Hardware, Alaska Airlines and a broad base of government entities such as the Federal Government of Canada.
The Warehouse Generalist’s main responsibilities are to retrieve, pack, prepare and ship clients’ orders from our warehouse to guarantee a quick and efficient delivery of goods. The generalist must also keep the warehouse organized and inspect for any discrepancies through inventory counts and rotations to ensure that our databases are reflective of our actual stock.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Retrieve stock from our inventory based on clients’ orders and have it shipped to their respective location.
- Determine the method of shipping and coordinate transportation through freight and label software systems.
- Unpack, store, and organize goods including bulk stocks received through suppliers.
- Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks and inspect incoming goods against invoices and other documents.
- Prepare bills of lading, customs forms, and other shipping documents manually or through a computer.
- Conduct garments cycle counts, rotate inventory and advise co-workers as well as other departments of inventory levels including shortages/surpluses.
- Operate a forklift, pallet jacks, pneumatic staplers and box closers and any other equipment used to load, unload, transport, and store goods.
- Follow safe work procedures and precautions when operating equipment or when in the warehouse, which can include wearing personal protective equipment.
- Respond to questions or concerns from employees or indirect clients related to shipping.
- Inform the warehouse manager of discrepancies, missing stock, or space management issues.
- Perform general housekeeping tasks within the warehouse.
Qualifications
- Highschool diploma or equivalent.
- 6 months of experience of warehouse experience that includes picking, packing, and shipping of goods.
- Forklift Experience.
- Knowledge of freight costings and transportation systems such as Canpar, Purolator and Canada Post.
- Ability to continuously lift 40lbs.
- Good communications skills in multiple languages, written and spoken.
- Strong attention to details, problem solving skills and customer service skills for our internal clients.
- Strong organizational and time management skills for storing goods and appropriately prioritizing shipments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
