PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Co-op program at CPKC will give you an opportunity to gain large public-company experience with a culture committed to success and development. You will collaborate on projects that require detailed analytical review, and progress real-time business and process improvements. The job requires an aptitude for data mining, analytics, problem solving and a drive for collaboration.
CPKC is currently considering a Co-op Student pursuing an undergraduate degree or College Diploma programs including but not limited to the following areas of study:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Business Administration
- Commerce
- Economics
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES – FINANCIAL PLANNING
- Prepare monthly revenue, expense and/or capital forecasts;
- Prepare reports and complete ad hoc analysis, including variance analysis; and
- Support financial planning projects including process improvement, information technology enhancements, etc.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES – ACCOUNTING
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations;
- Prepare financial analysis on monthly and quarterly data; and
- Perform other month end closing responsibilities and related reporting.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including but not limited to Excel;
- Ability to work independently, and as part of a team;
- Strong communication and organizational skills;
- Manage expectations and prioritize work-based requirements;
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform critical self-reviews;
- Continuous improvement mindset; and
- Ability to use Best Practice to achieve departmental goals.
