Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity
You will be responsible for general accounting and analysis with a focus on accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory to support Controllership group activities, within our Finance team. The Accountant is responsible for general accounting, revenue recording, general ledger recording validations, sales taxes and income taxes remittances.
Your Moneris Career - What you'll do
- Perform a variety of accounting activities following accounting principles and standards to control our financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
- Reconcile accounts, post journal entries, and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger following accounting principles and reporting schedules so that we have a full and accurate statement of its financial position.
- Collect, compile, verify, and analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and accounting statements so that senior management has accurate information for making financial decisions.
- Reporting which includes profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports and filings.
- Provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational areas managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities.
- Comply with corporate policies established by Moneris Corporation including the HR Code of Conduct, Technology Policy & Privacy Policy
- Perform other responsibilities, as required
Your Moneris Career - What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in business/Accounting/Finance or a related field of study
- Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) or in the process of obtaining the designation is considered an asset
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting
- Previous experience in the payment industry considered an asset
- Experience working with medium to large ERP systems (i.e. D365)
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows/ MS Office Applications (Excel is a must)
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, and verbal)
- Strong analytical skills and interpersonal skills
- Always reliable, consistent, flexible, adaptable and excellent time management (prioritizing skills with ability to meet time compressed deadlines)
- Ability to contribute effectively in a fast paced environment
