JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Accounting Manager (CPA), the incumbent is ultimately responsible for providing accounting, bookkeeping, and client management support. The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for assisting the Senior Accountants with managing the accounting and bookkeeping needs for our clients, the conduct of our client relationships, the maintenance of their fiscal records, the preparation or oversight of monthly bank reconciliations, financial reports, government tax filings and audits.
DUITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Using Quickbooks and Keeper.app, maintain clients’ financial records, analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
- Reconcile accounts by gathering and balancing information.
- Correct errors by posting adjusting journal entries.
- Maintain general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivables and control accounts; adjusting entries for amortizations prepaid; analyzing and reconciling accounts payable ledgers; preparing fixed asset depreciation and accruals.
- Provide financial status information by preparing special reports; completing special projects.
- Preparation of the budgets/forecasts of various divisions.
- Monthly analysis of revenue and expense variances to budget and forecast, including narratives.
- Preparation of specific annual audit working papers and liaise with auditors.
- Preparation of claims for government tax filings.
- Work with the Management team and Consultants (from our sister company: Phoenix Financial Solutions) to ensure client needs are met, promises are delivered and actions are followed through.
- Recommend practice/procedure improvement solutions.
- Attend weekly in-house Management and client meetings.
- May occasionally assist with payroll.
- Liaise with Sales and Administration departments to ensure accuracy of billings and revenues are appropriately recorded.
- Assist with all other project-related tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a CPA designation.
- Must have experience with Quickbooks & Simply Accounting.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting and analysis experience.
- Bachelor's degree equivalent post-secondary education.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel abilities.
- Bilingual (any language) is an asset
