Accountant
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Accountant. In this position you will be responsible for the overall management of the projects life cycle by ensuring projects are set up, maintained, and invoiced in accordance with the contract requirements and with United's approved policies and practices.
Key Components of the Role Include:
- Provide a high level of customer service to all clients, vendors and internal partners and teams
- Complete project set-up based on a review of the client contract and utilizing information provided by the Project Consultants & Project Coordinators , ensuring all project attributes and variables have been properly input in accordance with the contract requirements.
- Full cycle of managing project's life cycle with procurement, controlling budgets, payments to labour costings, invoicing GC, clients, owners.
- Full control of profit per job, bi weekly, monthly reporting
- Promote continuous improvement within the Accounting department
- Serve as a partner to Project Consultants & Project Coordinators, including assisting with functions as requested such as tracking of subcontractors, preparing progress reports, supporting client audits, admin duties, adjusting budgets ensuring project budget accuracy, writing off or transferring work in progress (“WIP”), monitoring accounts receivable aging and completing collection of invoices, etc.
- Monthly review of budget fees to ensure the accuracy of WIP
- Ensure project close out procedures are completed on a timely basis.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing audit support packages.
- Ensure all assigned functions are carried out in compliance with approved policies, key controls and practices and procedures.
- Full cycle accounting all duties
Skills, Education, and Experience
- At least 2 years experience in a commercial construction accounting.
- Must have Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or accounting designation CA, CGA, CPA
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to develop solid working relationships
- Solid knowledge of general contracting practices preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications including an intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
- Three or more years’ project accounting experience
