Job Description West Park Healthcare Centre helps patients get their lives back by providing inpatient, outpatient and outreach services in specialized rehabilitative and complex care after a life-altering illness or injury such as lung disease, amputation, stroke, and traumatic musculoskeletal injuries. By 2023, West Park’s 27-acre site will be transformed into an integrated campus of care, including a new hospital building and additional community supports such as assisted living for persons with disabilities and seniors. This transformation enables the Centre to evolve its rehabilitative programs and strengthen links to community-based services to meet the future healthcare needs of our local community and the province.We currently have a Permanent Full-Time opportunity for a Sr. Accounting Clerk in Financial Services to join our team.Reporting Relationship: Manager, Prosthetics and Orthotics Service/Senior Financial AnalystHours of work/Shifts: Days (37.5 Hours)Status: Permanent Full-TimeSalary Range: $31.82-33.31Employee Group: SEIUResponsibilities:• Generate estimates and invoices using POSoft software• Process and submit claims to ADP on patients’ behalf• Apply for funding from ODSP, The War Amputations of Canada or other funding agency on patients’ behalf• Monitor and track status and payment of claims• Follow up in consistent intervals with patients and 3rd party payers to secure funding approval• Consistently monitor funding approval dates to ensure commencement of fabrication on approved devices have started as well as flag any uncompleted work approaching ADP stale date status• Generate Sales report at month end including breakdown of component cost and type of devices sold• Perform daily and monthly collection activities with patients/insurance companies and ADP (Assistive Devices Program)• Schedule and coordinate appointments for patients and department staff as necessary• Generate month end reports for Manager/Financial Analyst• Provide assistance to manager and Prosthetist when required• Provide relieve receptionist coverage• Updating component pricing, product categories and codes in POSoft.• Provide assistance in handling patient and family inquiries with regard to funding and payment issue• Provide assistance and support to clinical / technical team including inventory clerk• Assist financial Analyst & Manager in various problem solving and other tasks as assigned.• Be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors including:- Compliance with the safety standards of the hospital and applicable legislation- Identification and prevention of safety issues and problems- Taking corrective action, where possible- Attendance at safety meetings/training/updates in accordance with the Centre’s standards• Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of West Park: Excellence, Respect, Trust, Collaboration and Accountability• Evidence of good performance history and attendance recordQualifications:Required:• Graduate of a community college accounting or general business certificate program• Recent experience 2-3 years in Accounts Receivable in a fast-paced dynamic business environment• Intermediate computer skills, specific proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)• Knowledge of general accounting principles, policies and procedures• Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail; ability to detect and communicate all discrepancies• Ability to work under pressure and meet all financial deadlines• Ability to work a flexible schedule and complete projects in a timely and professional manner• Ability to learn new programs and applications quickly• Ability to update and schedule appointments• Excellent interpersonal, communications and organizational skills• Strong customer focus, telephone and listening skills• Evidence of good performance history and attendance recordPreferred:• Completion of 2 year college certificate/diploma program• Pursuit of recognized accounting designation• Experience working in a healthcare environmentPlease be advised that in order to be eligible for employment at West Park Healthcare Centre employees are required to be fully vaccinated in accordance with the hospital’s COVID-19 Immunization Policy.
