Controller
The Liberal Party of Canada is seeking an Accounting Manager, for a permanent, full-time opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff to support Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team as we work to keep Canada moving forward.
The Accounting Manager position is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of payroll and accounts payable processing; ensuring adherence/offering suggested improvements to a comprehensive set of internal controls; supporting the month-end, year-end, and audit processes within the operations of the organization.

- Ensure the compliance of compensation related regulations, policies and procedures
- Complete filing and remittance with CRA and provincial governments by due dates
- Ensure the timely distribution of T4, RL1, T4A slips
- Oversee bi-weekly payroll and benefits processing; recommend improvements
- Reconcile payroll, benefits and vacation records for month-end close
- Maintain relationship with payroll service provider; generate various reports as required
- Process the month-end reconciliation of various accounts
- Reconcile sales tax transactions, ensure filing and remittance of sales taxes by due dates
- Maintain the internal control of accounts payable process; recommend improvements
- Maintain and ensure the efficiency of AP automation system and the integration of financial information among various accounting systems
- Support year-end close and audit working paper preparation
- Prepare expenses reports as required
- Post-secondary degree in business or accounting
- Enrolled in the CPA program, with a preference of being in the final stages of completing the program
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll and payroll related regulations
- Ability to manage various levels of personnel
- Proficient with Accounting system and Microsoft Office Suite, e.g., Excel
- Canadian Payroll Association certificate is preferrable
- Bilingualism is an asset
