THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently looking for an experienced Accounting Technician, who will report directly to the Finance Director. The Accounting Technician will be responsible for preparing and consolidating financial statements and managing month-end analyses as well as all aspects of the general ledger.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the month-end closing process, including bank reconciliations, recording journal entries, and analyses of accounts
- Accounts receivable tasks such as, but not limited to; reviewing outstanding accounts, following up on payments, updating accounts, prepare and review invoices, solving invoicing issues
- Prepare monthly and annual internal financial statements
- Recommend and participate in the implementation of improvement measures (this includes being a key participant in the ERP troubleshooting, improvements and conversions)
- Prepare year end work for the external audit
- Monitor and record financial transactions according to company policies, and provide guidance to other personnel
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
- Provide daily assistance to the Corporate Controller and actively support all projects related to accounting functions and objectives
- Communicate and remit reports with external parties as needed (Bank, suppliers, accounting firm, government etc.)
- Various ad hoc assignments and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or related experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience, preferably in the fashion industry
- Strong knowledge of Excel
- Account receivable experience (an asset)
- Knowledge of Netsuite ERP system (an asset)
- Proficient in MS Office
- Organized - able to set priorities, develop work schedules, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information, and activities
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations on business issues;
- Bilingual; English and French written and spoken
