South Community Birth Program is seeking a superstar medical office assistant to join its multidisciplinary team! We are a group of family physicians, OB & Pediatrician, midwives, nurse practitioners, and nurses providing primary health care to pregnant people and their newborn babies. We offer care by appointment and also group care. The medical office assistant will provide a full range of office administrative support services for SCBP in our community-based office and group space setting at 1193 Kingsway in Vancouver. We do outreach in order to meet the primary healthcare needs of Vancouver's underserved, multi-ethnic community. Check out our website to see what we do - www.scbp.ca.
We are seeking a highly-motivated person who enjoys working in a fast-paced health care environment and is competent with computers. There are currently 5 full-time office assistants. You will also interact with the staff in our sister primary care clinic, South Hill Health Centre, located in the same office. Both programs interface and support one another. We are a paperless office, extensively using electronic medical records for patients. We use an open-source program known as Oscar EMR and will be transitioning to MYLE EMR. We are looking for someone who is passionate about working in maternity care.
This position entails:
- Cultivating good working relationships with our patients and care providers
- Managing all OB and Pediatrician Referrals and tasks
- Responding to patient and community queries by telephone, fax or email
- Booking patient appointments in our clinic and in other professional clinics, including hospitals, ultrasound clinics and specialist clinics
- Creating and maintaining client files in our EMR
- Managing our computer charting and office management system
- Supporting the SCBP Program Managers
The successful candidate will be:
- Friendly and professional with excellent interpersonal skills
- Highly competent in computer skills, and be fluent with Microsoft Office
- Experienced in electronic medical records, OSCAR or MYLE experience is an asset
- Proficient in multitasking, prioritizing and functioning in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Experienced in support services for a medical office with a minimum of 6 months MOA experience.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Critical thinking skills and an interest in learning about our maternity care practice
Languages in addition to English an asset.
Time Requirements:
This position is full-time and may require working an occasional evening once/month. This job starts full-time immediately. You must be able to work full time 8 hour shifts Monday to Friday in-person.
Salary:
Our starting wage is dependant on experience and varies between $20.25-$21.50/hour. This position includes vacation, sick time and health benefits after successful probation.
