Job Description
We are searching for a regular part-time Medical Administrative Assistant to join our health care team.
We are looking for a strong and dynamic staff who can handle all tasks in an optometry office from reception, preliminary testing, to dispensing and quality control. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the optometrist and the optician to provide excellent patient/customer care
- Educating patients on eye health and related issues
- Dispensing and educating patients on their eye wear options
- Properly taking spectacle measurements
- Insurance and provincial health care billings
- Accurate and careful handling of patient files
- Order supplies and maintains optical inventory – ordering, tracking, pricing, and cost controls.
- Answer telephone lines and emails; respond to internal and external inquiries within scope of responsibility and direct all calls appropriately to optometrist and staff.
- Proficient in computers with sufficient knowledge to work on automated systems with minimum training and supervision.
- Data entry, accurately completing daily reports
- Proven equivalent medical related knowledge and experience in handling patients and ensuring safety protocols
- Provide exemplary customer service by serving all clients quickly, professionally, and efficiently.
- Resolve any client’s complaints and inquiries in a professional, timely and appropriate manner.
Strong communication skills and attention to detail is a must. Previous experience in a healthcare administration or other related fields is an asset but not a requirement.
Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 16-24 per week
Salary: $16.00-$17.00 per hour
