CUPE 5791 Job Family Operational Services Category Staff Number of Vacancies 1 Position SummaryThe primary function of the role is to provide support for the research team of Wellness Wheel, under the supervision of Dr. JoLee Sasakamoose. This work will include; the preparation of grant applications, coordination of finance related matters, and general administrative duties such as setting up meetings and the organization of the research team.
This position will provide administrative support for the Research Director including:
- Managing the Research Director’s calendar, coordination of meetings and monitoring work schedules;
- Manages expense reports and p-card transactions;
- Making travel arrangements;
- Attending and/or hosting meetings with the Research Director;
- Completing draft reports and summaries; and
- Providing input and managing the Wellness Wheel website and Social Media.
This position will also be responsible for managing administrative work as it pertains to the research project, including:- Compiling documents for grant application;
- Compiling documents for Research Ethics Board (REB) applications, submitting new applications, tracking progress of applications and expiration dates of approved REB applications;
- Under the direction of the project’s principal investigator, this position manages study participants for research subjects including placing ads for recruitment of participants, orienting new participants to the study, such as completion of consent forms and study procedures, and schedules appointments for study participation;
- Monitoring expenses on research grants and contracts, including submitting purchasing card records and requisitions for purchase orders; tracks purchase orders;
- Assisting principal investigator with manuscript submissions: literature cited, formatting the manuscript for appropriate journals, obtaining authors’ copyright releases, monitoring the principal investigator’s submission deadlines; and
- Managing project files and records.
Position RequirementsPosition Requirements- A relevant Bachelor’s degree (preference in areas of Education, Psychology, or Nursing) with 2-3 years administrative experience;
- Demonstrated knowledge of health issues affecting First Nations peoples;
- Ability to recognize issues affecting First Nations peoples;
- Understands health issues affecting First Nations peoples;
- Knowledge of Indigenous language and ways of knowing;
- Respectful of Indigenous ways of knowing;
- Recognize Indigenous ways of knowing and Indigenous language;
- Experience working with elders;
- Familiar with Indigenous meeting/ceremony ethics;
- Ability to work independently;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Strong written and verbal communications; and
- Experience with Indigenous language (ability to speak is considered an asset).
