The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Chief Legal & Administrative Officer, the Senior Director/Associate Vice-President, Human Resources, will lead and develop the HR strategy and programs including annual workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, learning and development, employee engagement and total compensation across the entire organization. This hands-on position engages heavily with all members of the organization, including the Senior Leadership team and plays an active role in forecasting and strategic planning. With operations across Canada and the USA, this position oversees the entire HR function in addition to leading Tantalus’ DEI committee.
Location of Position:
This position will be hybrid, based in our Burnaby, BC office.
Specifically, the Senior Director/Associate Vice-President, HR will:
- Continue to promote, enhance, and develop HR programs as it relates to:
- Recruitment (organization-wide brand alignment, marketing and candidate sourcing, selection, assessments and hire);
- Learning and development (people leader programs, onboarding orientation and learning, department-specific training through to organization-wide initiatives);
- Annual Performance Management (training, coaching, guidelines and documentation);
- Total compensation (including health insurance benefits), engagement and recognition (participating in annual compensation surveys and reviewing current program offerings and advising on future program enhancements);
- Annual workforce planning (based on upcoming corporate and departmental initiatives design a staffing plan to ensure these programs are resourced adequately);
- Succession planning (provide direction and development of a strategy inclusive of Board and Executive members);
- Provide expert counsel to leaders across the organization on all employment matters and partner with departmental leaders to coach and to ensure HR programs are optimally leveraged by managers and employees to positively impact employee attraction, orientation, engagement, development and retention;
- Act as the HR lead for Canada and US employment policy and legal matters (related to employment, human rights, immigration) in close collaboration with in-house legal counsel;
- Develop, facilitate and support new and evolving business systems, structures and processes to enable rapid growth and change;
- Advise and lead an effective return-to-office that is aligned to the core needs of the business;
- Lead the internal DEI committee and plan monthly communications, events, seminars, webinars etc.;
- Act as a champion for Tantalus’ culture and values.
What you Bring:
Education and Experience
- Minimum relevant undergraduate degree; Master’s degree strongly preferred; Human Resource certification preferred
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Human Resources management and/or senior business partner role in public, multi-national company - preferred in engineering/technology – experiencing rapid growth and change
- Knowledge of and experience with multi-national companies, including relevant expertise in Canada and US employment, human rights, privacy laws and immigration
- Track record of delivering high quality results
