Addiction and Mental Health Worker, Eating Disorders Residence
Full-Time, Permanent (Benefitted)
London, Ontario

Eating disorders affect people from all backgrounds and walks of life. We believe that recovery from an eating disorder is possible.
As part of the team at our Eating Disorders Residence, you’ll get to work collaboratively with clients to help them establish a better relationship with food, build their capacity to cope with emotions, and address unhelpful beliefs they have about themselves and their bodies so that they can move forward in their journey to wellness. Our Eating Disorders Residence supports clients 24/7 in a home-like setting, working in partnership with the London Health Science Centre’s Adult Eating Disorders Services.
Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 3 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:
- What you'll be making - $22.33 to $25.71 per hour (Practicing Professional Grid)
- The above are initial rates; with grid increases as per policy
- Internal staff members will be placed on the appropriate grid based on their current rate of pay, up to Level 8 of the grid (see Intranet Policy - bit.ly/CompensationPolicyPg16)
- When you'll work – 70 hours biweekly; Rotating shifts to include days, afternoons, evenings and weekends
- Your pension plan – Immediately enrolled in in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
- Assist clients with the completion of their homework and generalizing skills learned in day treatment
- Motivate and support clients to work towards achievement of their individualized goals
- Promote sleep hygiene and implement nutritional contingencies for those who remain awake past midnight
- Debrief with clients following passes or leaves of absence from the residence
- Pull/Portion Food as Needed: Ensure all breakfast items have been pulled from meal tray fridge and portioned if needed to prepare breakfast trays.
- Assist and coach clients in the learning and management/achievement of activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, daily chores, budgeting, socialization, etc.
- Medication monitoring and support, as required
- Support clients with physical, addiction, and mental health concerns
- Crisis prevention and intervention
- Meal supervision and consumption if it falls on a time during a shift. Support clients one-on-one with meal preparation and completion
- Ensure effective communication with Director, Manager, fellow staff and LHSC Adult Eating Disorders Team
- Ongoing liaison with LHSC Adult Eating Disorder Program Clinical Staff Team to ensure a firm understanding of the clinical aspects of the program
- Complete Infection prevention and control responsibilities nightly
- Complete room checks as indicated
- Identify, promote resolution, and management of all emergency situations concerning clients, staff, and property
- Creating and maintaining files on the client database.
- Office administration activities such as typing meeting minutes, photocopying forms, creating binders prior to move in, etc.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

We require the following qualifications:
- University degree or college diploma in the social science field (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
- Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s Licence, adequate insurance and access to a vehicle to transport clients
- 1 years’ work experience in mental health and addiction field
- Knowledge and/or working experience with eating disorders
- Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation philisophy
- Experience working in a residence setting
- First Aid & CPR, ASIST, CPI trainings
- Knowledge of safe food handling procedures
