What do you offer?
The Case Coordinators, Housing Support Office will work as part of the Housing Services Team that provides programs and services for individuals with affordable/social housing needs including short and long-term residents, supportive housing, emergency shelter, Second Stage Housing for youth, counselling and referral. The Case Coordinators provide case management support services to families and individuals in the Transitional Family Housing Program (Shelter).
Some of the tasks of this position include:
- Provide intake assessment and placement services including the utilization of HIFIS and the SPDAT and interpretation services where required
- Provide life skills coaching, focusing on ability to live as independently as possible
- Refer clients to services that would provide short- and long-term support, if necessary e.g. Social Assistance, Immigration, Childcare, Families First, CMHA, CAS, etc.
- Provide information and application packages for the social housing registry; assist in completing if necessary
- Work with clients to develop individualized plans with realistic goals to resolve issues that lead to homelessness
- Assist clients to find permanent housing and apply for social housing as well as, search for private market housing where affordable
- Participate in ongoing weekly meetings with households to ensure progress with the individualized action plan for the household; and

The successful candidate will have the following:
Education
- Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field
Language
- Fluent in English; oral and written
- French; considered an asset.
Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum 2 years experience in Social Services, preferably one in Housing
- Knowledge and sensitivity in dealing with individuals with homelessness, addictions, and mental health
- Training in Suicide Intervention and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention preferred
- Knowledge of community resources is an asset
- Strong problem-solving and creative skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent client service skills and focus
- Ability to work with clients with diverse backgrounds and needs
- Create a strong presence and provide a welcoming environment
Additional Requirements:
- First Aid, Suicide Intervention Training, and CPR training
- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada
- A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
- Annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons, and submit the certificate of completion.
