Position HEAD CASHIER – FULL TIME

Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operations within the department. Monitors to ensure product is safely received and stored, product is properly displayed, counting is done, customer transactions are processed, maintenance and housekeeping is done. Identifies issues and areas for improvement within the front end of the food store in-store experience. Supports brand initiatives. May contribute to or administer the operating budget. May provide operational oversight in absence of the Grocery Manager. Directly carries out operational activities as required.
- Ensures prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service is provided at all times to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction; assists with direct customer service as required. Investigates escalated issues and ensures all customer complaints, adjustments, and returns are handled in a quick and efficient manner. Regularly manages heightened conflict situations where customers must be removed from the store or denied service, in a respectful yet effective manner, to balance regulatory compliance and Co-op values.
- Provides leadership to the team through scheduling and assigning work, anticipating needs, coordinating training and development, and providing performance feedback. Applies operational knowledge in key performance areas and works with the Department and/or Store Manager in the allocation of team assignments to achieve objectives. Fosters a positive work environment that enables the engagement of all team members in the pursuit of desired results.
- Promotes and ensures all company, safety and regulatory policies and procedures are met, including loss prevention.
- Responsible for maintaining housekeeping standards within the department.
- Responsible for ordering, receiving and displaying of merchandise as directed by the Grocery Manager.
- Assists in the inventory count of general merchandise.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Supervisory experience is an asset.
- Willingness to further knowledge through training.
- Strong leadership and communication skills

- Practical experience in grocery an asset.
- Positive and professional attitude, strong interpersonal skills, outgoing and energetic personality.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Able to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings and weekends.

- Physically able to do heavy lifting.
- A desire and ability to work with the public.
