What You'll Get To Do!
The Marketing & Communications Manager plays a vital role in developing and implementing effective marketing strategies and communication campaigns to promote sales and drive business growth. The primary focus is creating innovative marketing initiatives, enhancing brand visibility, and executing sales promotion activities. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales and Business Development, Customer Service, Corporate Travel, Revenue Optimization, and other departments to achieve business objectives and maintain a strong market presence.
Operations:
- Create and implement comprehensive marketing plans aligned with the airline's sales objectives and overall business strategy
- Identify target markets and customer segments, conducting market research and analysis to understand consumer preferences and trends
- Design and execute sales promotion campaigns to drive revenue and increase passenger bookings
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify opportunities for promotional activities and develop tailored campaigns to maximize sales conversion
- Monitor campaign performance, analyze results, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
- Maintain and enhance the airline's brand image and reputation through consistent messaging and communication strategies
- Develop compelling marketing collateral, including brochures, presentations, website content, and social media campaigns
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels
- Act as liaison with media when required
- Oversee digital marketing initiatives, including website management, search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, and email marketing campaigns.
- Develop and implement social media strategies to engage customers, build brand loyalty, and drive website traffic
- Monitor online analytics, track social media trends, and leverage data insights to optimize digital marketing efforts
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, market opportunities, and potential threats
- Monitor industry developments, customer feedback, and competitor activities to inform marketing strategies and identify areas for differentiation
- Lead and manage a small marketing team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment
- Oversee the successful execution of the Calm Air Charitable Giving Program including donation administration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Customer Service, Reservations, Revenue Optimization, Business Development, Health & Safety, Human Resources, Maintenance, and other departments to align marketing efforts and achieve business goals
- Manage the Marketing and Business Development community engagement strategy ensuring client and community relationships are maintained and fostered
- Other duties as assigned
Financial:
- Define marketing budgets and allocate resources effectively to achieve desired outcomes
- Monitor and analyze monthly expenditures to ensure within budget and on target
- Engage in ongoing cost reduction analysis within the department
Safety and Leadership:
- Change management leader - execute change while supporting employees through communication, listening and actioning
- Actively support the safety management system by following SMS processes and encouraging a safety reporting culture in your department
- Promote occupational health and safety within your department and participate in the development and monitoring of safety training
- Proactively communicate hazards and SMS initiatives with your department
- Embark on employment equity initiatives; engaging with all employees to promote employment equity and encouraging employees to undertake the self-declaration survey updating as necessary
- All levels of the organization share responsibility for human rights within the organization, overseeing and promoting continuous improvement on human rights and employment equity initiatives
- Carry out their duties safely within regulatory and company standards, policies, processes, and procedures as trained. Use safety equipment (tools, Proper Protective Equipment etc.) as provided. Actively identify and report hazards and deficiencies (when in doubt report). Assist in development of company processes and procedures as required
MANAGERS, SUPERVISORS & LEADS – have been delegated the authority and are responsible to the Department Head to actively identify hazards and deficiencies and report through the SMS (Safety Management System) Program reporting system. Communicate with all personnel within their respective department and other departments as required to maintain effective day to day activities. Ensure regulatory and company standards are maintained. Assist in the development and maintenance of company processes and procedures. (Quality Assurance activities)
Skills & Experience We Value!
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field is required
- Proven experience in marketing and communications, with a focus on sales promotion
- Experience in the airline industry is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of marketing principles and practices, including market research, brand management, digital marketing, and campaign management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling marketing content and engage diverse audiences
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, such as SEO, PPC, email marketing, and social media management
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and metrics to drive marketing strategies and measure campaign effectiveness
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve targets
- Adaptability and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Exceptional organizational and project management abilities, with a keen attention to detail
- Travel is required
- Inuktitut language is considered an asset
- Preference will be given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
