ssociation for New Canadians (ANC) is a non-profit, community based organization dedicated to the provision of settlement and integration services for immigrants and refugees.
The ANC is presently seeking to hire 3 Community Service Worker for its Satellite Offices in Clarenville, Gander, and Forteau.
These positions are funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program at an hourly rate of $14.50/hr. Canada Summer Jobs is a program under the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy, which aims to provide flexible services to help all young Canadians develop the skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition into the labor market.
Job Title: Community Service Worker

Pay Rate: $14.50/hr
Duration: 35 hours/week for 8 weeks (approx.)
Closing Date: July 25, 2023
Reporting to the Regional Settlement Coordinator in the respective region, the Community Service Worker will mainly assist the Regional Settlement Coordinator in building community capacity for newcomers in the region.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Regional Settlement Coordinator in planning, developing, and implementing various cultural and recreational activities, projects, and programming to support newcomer integration.
- Assist with the development of marketing/promotional materials, such as: informational/promotional brochures in hard copy, digital, electronic, and social media formats.
- Assist in coordinating events and presentations to create awareness of programming designed to support newcomers.
- Maintaining regular and open communication with program team members and all other co-workers.
Qualifications:
- Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with a diverse clients.
- Efficient communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
- Experience working with newcomer populations is an asset.
Conditions of Employment:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Hold a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- Satisfactory Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from the RCMP.
- Must have own means of transportation.
