If you answered yes, our Chalk River location is looking for an Compensation Manager to manage the cyclical compensation activities such as various salary and short term incentive admin cycles, market analyses, and financial reporting. What will you be doing!
Managing the annual compensation and incentive process
- Creating and disseminating communication related to the merit and incentive cycles
- Managing the compensation tools to collect performance rating, merit and incentive allocations
- Ensuring new salaries for both merit base and flat rate groups are updated and communicated to employees accordingly.
- Ensuring market competitiveness of CNL’s compensation structures.
- Overseeing survey participation completed by Total Rewards Analyst
- Conducting market research and provide recommendations on CNL’s salary structures, including costing
- Providing market assessments for critical roles as required
Pay Equity Compliance
- Maintaining the integrity of the non-union job family system by providing advice and guidance on job design, grade allocation and performing job evaluation where required.
- Ensuring CNL’s compliance with Federal Pay Equity Legislation including gap identification; data compilation; job classification and evaluation; and identifying and costing of inequities as well as ongoing Pay Equity maintenance requirements.
Ad-Hoc costings, and providing analytical data
- Supporting Labour Relations with liability costings and market research for annual bargaining mandates, as well as providing ad-hoc costings during the bargaining process.
- Providing various costings and analytical reporting to support Finance, Project Management Office (PMO), and other client groups
Compensation projects, and providing advice and guidance
- Leading/participating in compensation projects, such as the new Federal Pay Equity legislation, going to market for a potential new compensation tool, creating new or modifying existing retention/incentive programs for critical roles/project sites, compensation guidelines.
- Providing guidance to the HR team and management regarding compensation policies and application.
- Identifying areas of opportunity, making recommendations, and implementing improvements in all aspects of compensation.
- Supporting the development and implementation of the Total Rewards strategy and financial strategy
What we are looking for:
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resource or Business Administration
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation or CHRP is an asset
- 7+ years progressive, direct experience in a Compensation role
- Experience in a multi-union or unionized environment an asset
- Ability to take full ownership of assigned projects and see those projects through to completion
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to summarize information concisely and present in written, graphical and/or verbal format in order to convey complex information to all levels of stakeholders
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, attention to detail, demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and skilled in manipulating data
- Proven ability to think conceptually, problem-solve, and generate practical solutions
- Ability to work collaboratively and take initiative to support the team
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in handling information of a sensitive nature
- Advanced proficiency in Excel is required; proficient with PowerPoint and Word
- Demonstrated knowledge of compensation planning, market benchmarking surveys, pay equity, incentive plans, understanding market trends, and job evaluation
Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.

Location:
CNL works with employees across our Canadian locations to enable a hybrid workforce where possible. Our Hybrid employees work with their manager to establish expectations for when they will be on site vs when they are working from home.
