Purpose of Position:
Under the general supervision of the Chief Risk Officer, the Controller manages the day-to-day operations of the accounting area, ensuring work assigned is completed on time with accuracy. The position is responsible for the management of the general ledger system, resulting in the preparation of the credit union’s financial statements. You will coordinate the requirements of the annual external audit. You will provide support to other employees and help contribute to the credit union’s achievement of corporate business plans and growth objectives.
Specific Role Responsibilities:
Maintain accounting sub-systems, including general ledger accounts and fixed assets
Monitor investments, borrowings, including daily cash balances
Develop and recommend changes to accounting policies and procedures; monitor changes to accounting standards
Payroll and benefits processing and administration
Pay invoices, track expenses and monitor for issues or concerns

You are someone who has excellent written and verbal communication skills
You have demonstrated prioritization, organization and time management skills
You have the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude.
You wish to foster business development through service excellence and support fellow staff members in the delivery of products and services to members and potential members
Minimum Education and Experience:
Post-secondary degree or diploma OR completion of a professional accounting program with one to three years of job-related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Credit Union experience will be considered an asset
