The job is part of the Communications team responsible for creating, editing, publishing, and maintaining content for the Division’s public website “ecsd.net”, and support for the internal website, “myecsd.net”. The incumbent works in a creative environment and works collaboratively with Division departments and 96 schools.
In all facets of the job, the incumbent endeavours to promote the Division, its Catholic identity, and Catholic education by supporting the mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
The incumbent collaborates with Communications and Technology Services staff to ensure the website is serving students, family, and community.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Provide overall maintenance, upkeep, and enhancement of ecsd.net.
- Write, edit, and revise website content to heighten awareness about Edmonton Catholic Schools and address multiple audiences.
- Deliver coherent, high-quality, error-free content.
- Balance Search Engine Optimization (SEO) requirements with maintaining high-quality content.
- Perform quality assurance checks on website content for the Division, departments, and schools.
- Manage and coordinate multiple web initiatives simultaneously.
- Formulate a workable content roadmap for long-term strategic planning and help implement Division-wide standards.
- Build and maintain a detailed knowledge of Division administrative procedures, visual identity, and style guide.
- Provide support to schools and departments to fulfil their communication website objectives.
- Evaluate the success of website content with the team and implement recommendations for improvement.
- Assess and recommend usability solutions for the website.
- Participate in department meetings and contribute to short and long-term strategic planning.
- Maintain technical knowledge through a range of professional development activities.
Job Qualifications Include:
Degree or diploma in an area related to communications, marketing, or journalism plus two years of directly related experience.
- Knowledge of writing, editing, and managing website content principles and practices
- Knowledge of elements of visual storytelling, principles, and techniques
- Knowledge of best practices for web design, including responsive design, accessibility, and web security
- Knowledge of MS Office applications, content management systems
- Knowledge of records management principles, including, Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Legislation; financial policies and procedures
- Knowledge of digital marketing channels and tactics, including SEO and social media
- Knowledge of Canadian Press Style
- Knowledge of workplace safety and Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- Understanding of Catholic education, and the Division’s mission and vision
- Understanding of the Division’s and department’s business, operations and programs
- Exceptional English language writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to guide and advise staff in areas of expertise
- Excellent planning, project management, time management skills and the ability to balance conflicting priorities
- Strong consultation, needs assessment, facilitation, and presentation skills · Good research and analytical skills
- Ability to foster strong working relationships and thrive in a team environment.
- Ability to communication technical information to a varied audience
