Our client in the Mississauga region is seeking a talented Cost Accountant to join their team and make an impact in the finance department. As a key member of the team, you'll have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a group of experienced professionals while being a mentor and guiding the accounting staff in day-to-day operations.
One of the key responsibilities of this role is costing and pricing. If you have a skillset in this area, then this is the job for you! You'll be responsible for preparing costing from supplier quotes, itemizing specific rationale components behind price changes and preparing data for our chain customers. You'll also be preparing customized pricing for our customers for their programs and communicating with internal departments on updated price lists.
Financial Accounting and Reporting is another crucial component of this role. You'll be responsible for preparing monthly and yearly financial statements, assisting in reviewing and approving journal entries, and reviewing bank reconciliations. You'll also be assisting in the preparation of the annual financial budget and projected income statement, as well as preparing schedules and requirements for interim and year-end audits.
As the Cost Accountant, you will also be responsible for overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. And you will report to the Finance Manager. You'll review and approve AP invoices in accordance with approval policy, act as a back-up for approving cost variance adjustments and cheque signing. You'll also assist in reviewing and approving credit notes and analyzing customers' programs, reviewing AR aging and claims, and preparing and posting AR Rebates and Allowances Accrual.
In addition to these key responsibilities, you'll also be responsible for funds management and banking, compliance, inventory unit cost analysis, and finance analysis. You'll coordinate with our insurance brokers and insurance affiliates on all company insurance requirements and compliance. You'll be a team player who is comfortable communicating with various types of individuals, and have excellent organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.
To be considered for this role, you'll need a minimum Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field, as well as 5+ years of accounting experience and financial management. A CPA designation is an asset. A high level of critical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning will be instrumental to success. You should be accurate and have attention to detail while working under tight deadlines. You should also be assertive and have strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
