Employee Services Assistant - Human Resources & Payroll (Terrace campus)

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a continuing full-time Employee Services Assistant. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Support Staff Scale, Level 9: $2,062.90 biweekly plus a comprehensive benefits plan.
Responsibilities: The primary focus of the Employee Services Assistant is to support all facets of HR processes related to employee recruitment, onboarding, employee retention and engagement ensuring the highest levels of customer service. This position is a key resource, working closely with the HR/PR team to ensure common understanding, timely advice and support.
Tasks will include:
- Prepare postings ensuring compliance with collective agreements and employment legislation
- Receive applications, field enquiries from candidates, distribute application packages to selection committees, and provide advice and assistance to selection committees as required
- Calculating employee leave plan accruals and tracking employee leave plan usage
- Provide support and assistance with grievances, employee performance management, etc.
- Receive, code, and submit expense claims for payment
- Other related duties of similar scope and complexity as required
Qualifications
A diploma in Business Administration or Human Resources along with a minimum of two years recent experience in Human Resources, preferably in a unionized environment. A CPHR designation is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and office experience may be considered.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:
- Demonstrated proficiency using standard office technology (experience with Colleague is an asset)
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and work with discretion in navigating complex information, high volumes of work, tight timelines and frequent interruptions
- Ability to perform duties in a confidential manner with minimal supervision
- Thorough knowledge of business communications and processes, including records management
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of clients
- Exceptional attention to detail and proof-reading skills
