Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Manager, Community and Social Development the Social Development Coordinator will provide services that will improve the immediate and long term social, economic and health outcomes for youth, families, and seniors. As a social development coordinator, you will contribute to the development and delivery of community-based services in the Town of Strathmore and surrounding area and will develop, implement, and oversee services and programs that improve the social, economic, and health outcomes for all residents across the age spectrum.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Developing and facilitating social programs
- Collaborating and building relationships with community agencies and providers to ensure that needs of the community are met
- Demonstrating the capacity to provide programs for our community that are feasible and attainable
- Developing and implementing program goals, objectives, and outcome measurements
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of asset-based community development principles and practices
- Assisting clients in service navigation
- Creating and maintaining all required files, statistics and prepare related reports
- Performing other related work as required
Client Service Responsibilities:
- Assisting clients with service navigation and establishing community supports
- Maintaining case notes of client interactions
- Liaising with internal and community resources/partners to assist clients with their identified goals
Project Management Responsibilities:
- Fulfilling grant objectives alongside community members
- Facilitating community conversations and community action groups
- Grant acquisition and supervision of approved grant programs
Community Development Responsibilities:
- Supporting multiple subcommittees: Policy and Procedures, Executive, Events, Communications
- Developing and sustaining positive community relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Successful applicants will demonstrate on their resume
- Completion of diploma from a post-secondary program in a social services field or equivalent
- Experience with social innovation and systems thinking is an asset
- Knowledge and experience using asset-based community development
- Knowledge and experience with local and regional services an asset

- Excellent communication skills with proven examples of strong advocacy, research, development, and analysis skills
- Understanding of trauma informed care
- Commitment to working all major events and programming in-person
