Job Description:
Role summary:
The incumbent will be part of the Distribution Finance team and will be responsible for all aspects of the Dealer Accounting processes ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accounting transactions. This will encompass the operational accounting and reconciliation reporting for the Mutual Fund business and serving as the key point of contact to both external auditors and regulators and collaboratively working with members of the Distribution Finance, Treasury and Dealer Operations teams.
Our goal is to create efficient operational accounting and reporting processes and continue to improve and enhance these business processes while maintaining a strong control environment. This year one of the key mandates will be leading the team through a project to support T+1 settlement which is a change that will become effective for the industry in May 2024.
What can I expect to do in this role?
- Lead and develop a team of financial professionals and control specialists with the goal of increasing talent and providing opportunities to grow and acquire additional skill sets
- Collaborate effectively with Dealer Operations and other business areas to support the delivery of accurate and timely accounting processes
- Develop and manage a robust and effective control environment to ensure appropriate controls are in place over Dealer Accounting (purchase and settlement activities) and reconciliation reporting processes
- Provide leadership and support for projects and initiatives
- Manage relationships with External Audit and CIRO and ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial information and related support
- Communicate effectively with senior management and ensure that issues are raised and addressed in a timely manner
- Champion and support creative solutions that focus on continuous improvement
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA,CGA) with 7+ years of experience
- The ability to collaborate and navigate through issues to achieve sustainable resolutions
- The ability to manage and prioritize multiple accountabilities with minimal direction and make decisions requiring innovative thinking
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Proven experience in developing strong working relationships with business partners and stakeholders and ability to interact with all levels in the organization
Assets:
- Business knowledge and experience related to the Mutual Fund industry and CIRO regulatory rules
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
