Job Description
This candidate would report to the CEO and job description is as follows:
- Be responsible for overall efficient running of marine business unit.
- Advise the Directors, President or CEO as a Subject Matter Expert in marine operations.
- Plan, conduct and supervise all marine operations.
- Promulgating policies with regards to selection and onboarding of personnel with suitable qualifications, certifications, skills and experience for marine operations.
- Promulgating and ensuring compliance in accordance with STCW, MLC, IRPCS or other extent regulations applicable in Canada, United States and Europe.
- Promulgating and ensuring the highest standards of health and safety requirements.
- Ensuring audits and surveys are conducted as per contractual terms and customer requirements.
- Identification, sourcing and maintenance of marine survey equipment.
- Represent the company at national or international events.
- Any other tasks as may be required commensurate with position and experience.
Requirements:
Candidates should hold a valid Master Mariner FG Certificate of Competency from Canada, UK or India with minimum 5 years command experience onboard bulk carriers or similar. Preference would be given to candidates with:- Ability to travel extensively within Canada, US or internationally is required.
- Experience in preparing vessels based on Flag State, Port State, Annual, Class inspections & regulatory requirements.
- Experience in draft and bunker surveys.
- Experience of operating vessels as a Master in Canada, US and Europe.
- Knowledge of US & Canadian Coast Guard requirements for foreign vessels.
- Experience in ISM, ISPS, MLC audits for shipping companies.
- Experience in manpower recruitment and HR policies for marine companies.
- Exposure to large buoy mooring, recovery and handling operations.
- Exposure to underwater and coastal survey operations.
Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate to the candidate’s experience. Preferred start date is 01 September 2023.
