Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a high performing Director, Project Controls for this newly created role, with energy, drive and ambition to join our talented team at Irving Shipbuilding, proudly building naval ships for Canada, in North America’s most modern shipbuilding facility. This role will report to the Vice President, Programs.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field (e.g. Engineering, Marine Studies, Business).
- MBA and/or other professional accreditations are considered assets.
- Experience:
- 10+ years working in a programs and or project control function within the Shipbuilding Industry.
- 5+ years of functional senior leadership in a this functional area.
- Experience within a naval new build environment.
- Experience building comprehensive project control programs and implementation plans.
- Track record of achieving results while maintaining internal and external customer relationships.
- Strong analytical, collaboration and organizational skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads the Project Controls team across all programs at ISI.
- Responsible for setting the annual deliverables and objectives, ensuring alignment with all other functional areas within ISI.
- Responsible for managing the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and associated processes. Focus on improving the reporting capability of the EVMS.
- Generates official EVMS reports and reviews with all relevant functional areas to ensure understanding and alignment. Set improvement targets as warranted.
- Coordinates EVMS inputs for labour, staff and material and updates regularly based upon actual performance results.
- Responsible for communication of EVMS reporting both internally and externally including customer governance forums, audits, etc.
- Schedule and perform audits and report findings to the ISI Executive team and help develop corrective action plans and ensure timely resolution of findings.
- Develop and foster collaborative relationships with the internal and external stakeholders (operations/planning/engineering leadership, customers and partners).
