Position Title: Director, Learning & Development
Location: New Westminster YMCA BC (620 Royal Avenue, New Westminster)
Terms: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date: September 2023
Salary: $85,000- $95,000 annually plus benefits
Reports to: Chief People Officer

Nature & Scope:As the Director Learning & Development, you will partner with the CHRO to define learning and development strategies. In this role, you will manage the design, execution, facilitation, evaluation and continuous improvement of Team-member and Leadership development programs. You will report directly to the CHRO
Major Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the strategy for Learning and Development programs
- Design and deliver end-to-end training programs, workshops, tools, and curricula that deliver a high-quality learner experience
- Facilitate dynamic classroom and virtual training, utilizing adult learning principles and various teaching methods (e.g., presentations, workshops, small group exercises, role plays, etc.) to effectively ensure transfer of learning
- Establish role-specific internal learning and development roadmaps for Team-members and Leaders
- Create a comprehensive Leadership Development journey
- Partner with key stakeholders to identify knowledge and skills gaps and create innovative learning solutions for all Team-members that align with business needs
- Evaluate outside training partnership opportunities
- Create leadership development programs to support people development priorities such as performance management, career development, conflict resolution, employee engagement and change management
- Project manage programs end-to-end, including project plan creation, execution, and tracking of desired outcomes and results
- Track participant enrollment, progress, marks, and other Key metrics
- Manage program logistics and coordination in a hybrid format for virtual and live delivery
- Evaluate alternative delivery methods
- Deliver workshops, seminars, lunch & learns, and other trainings
- Measure program effectiveness and adapt to improve satisfaction, knowledge transfer, behavior change, and business results
- Translate strategic business needs into learning and development programs that are values-based, people-centric and aligned with our business goals
- Partner to manage content creation, event-planning and preparation for annual 2–3-day Learning Events
- Partner with leaders to establish the theme and learning outcomes based on current business needs
- Partner to create experiential learning experiences for 300+ attendees
Skills and Qualifications
- Recognized education/formal training in Education, Adult Learning, Instructional Design or a related discipline (Degree or Certificate)
- Experience with classroom facilitation and online training content/instructional design
- 4+ years managing the Learning & Development function of a mid-sized organization
- 5+ years of training and delivering impactful and effective presentations.
- 3+ years of leadership experience including managing, coaching and mentorship
- Proven experience in managing training projects from end-to-end
- Experience in assessing organizational needs and developing a variety of learning solutions to drive development and growth within an organization
- Technical knowledge of e-learning authoring software and LMS implementation (an asset)
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and experienced facilitator
- Proven abilities as a leader, team builder, motivator, coach and mentor
- Strong project management, logistical planning and organizational skills
- Exceptional PowerPoint and presentation design skills
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
