Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post-secondary education in political science, business administration, communications and public administration. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Experience creating strategic marketing content (website, videos, podcasts, social media, newsletters, marketing materials) and other communication activities.
- Ability to lead strategic planning activities to create and implement targeted marketing campaigns in a range of media forms.
- Excellent written communication skills and experience assisting professionals to produce documents that convey complex, technical content in an easy to understand, creative manner.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to actively listen and convey ideas in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information through the use of sound judgment and political acumen.
- Strong interpersonal skills for the purposes of building and maintaining strong working relationships with a variety of people, groups, and organizations.
- Strong leadership skills evidenced by the ability to guide and manage the work of others.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and timelines in a fast paced, results driven environment.
Desired:- Knowledge of current research and best practices in communications.
Duties:
Reporting to the Director of Engagement, The Engagement Specialists key responsibilities are:
- Deliver effective, innovative and multi-channel products and strategies that achieve government and department goals.
- Provide specialized skill and expertise to engagement and communications planning and delivery in multiple domains of engagement competency (Campaigns and Marketing, Media, Digital, Internal Communication, Consultation and Research, Change Management) and integrate these domains into coherent multi-channel strategies.
- Participate actively in branch and project planning and strategy efforts, ensuring an engagement lens is applied and that proactive engagement planning is undertaken at the earliest stages.
- Monitor and report on performance measures and outcomes, recommending corrective action where required.
- Support Managers and Director by providing strategic options, comprehensive policy advice and recommendations using internal and external expertise.
