Location: Toronto, Yonge & Eglinton (Hybrid Work, 3 days in office)

The Opportunity
The Manager - Community Engagement role is focused on developing, delivering and maintaining stakeholder relationships and community engagement activities that promote, educate and amplify TVO’s brand and services across Ontario.
How you will make an impact
- Assist the Manager Partnerships & Community Engagement with the design and implementation of community engagement processes related to TVO’s strategic planning efforts.
- Attend, plan, support, and organize community events, such as meetings, live events, training workshops, conferences, focus groups and outreach events.
- Maintain databases of community contacts and issues and draft communications such as letters, presentations, and promotional materials.
- Establish a system for monitoring and tracking community outreach opportunities.
- Develop and implement a community outreach schedule with key community events and ongoing outreach.
- Have a well-developed process for planning and scheduling outreach at key community events.
- Plan, coordinate deliver community TVO outreach events with community organizations.
- Develop and schedule outreach activities that engage target communities.
- Maintain stakeholder contact information and help build new community partnerships that encourage sustainable and innovative use of TVO’s products and services to inform, educate and connect targeted communities.
- Builds accountable relationships with community leaders and partners to position TVO as learning destination of choice.
- Designs and conducts training and presentations and other training to provide support to Ontario students, families, educational and community partners, educators to develop TVO product knowledge.
- Foster collaboration and communication with identified communities.
- Develop and sustain positive relations with community stakeholders across the province.
- Serve as a liaison between community groups by coordinating and facilitating communication between TVO and students, families, community organizations, businesses, government agencies and the communities that these vital organizations represent.
- Meets with community leaders and the administration to plan community events
- Meets regularly and communicate with community partners to schedule a calendar of events for the fiscal year
- Develops, coordinates and monitors partnerships and community development programs
What you will bring to TVO
- Post-secondary education in communications, event management, education, marketing, community development, public administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years in a leadership role
- Demonstrated experience working with historically marginalized communities.
- A passion for community engagement and making a positive impact in society.
- Current police vulnerable sector check.
- A valid Ontario driver’s license
- Functioning knowledge of Ontario educational landscape, including, academic issues, market trends, regulatory environment, established networks and contacts are an asset.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, conflict resolution and customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to interpret information into a written form that is understandable by the general public.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including internal & external partners, and the public.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and manage assignments and workload under tight timelines which may be conflicting.
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal), with demonstrated ability to present in person, over the phone and online presentations.
- Independent thinking and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Strong computer skills including using collaborative apps and video conferencing tools.
- Preference would be given to candidates with additional language competencies (including but not limited to French, Chinese, Portuguese, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu etc.).
- Preference will be given to Ontario Certified Teachers.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
