Job Description

Citigroup Institutional Client Group is seeking a Senior Technical Team Lead to join Information Service Group for a hands-on role in design, build and maintenance of various UI enterprise solutions based on full Java/J2EE stack technologies.

Senior hands-on technical lead focused on building out the firm’s strategic Corporate Action reference data platform used by the Institutional Clients Group in Citi. The successful applicant will take ownership of key projects and components and will be responsible for all phases of the SDLC including analysis and design, development, testing and deployment. As a technical lead, the candidate will be responsible for providing technical guidance to junior developers, including overseeing their deliverables, providing architectural guidance, enforcing Citi best practices, and conducting code reviews. A potential candidate will need to understand system and enterprise architecture concepts and will be expected to understand how all components fit together and affect one another. They will work with a global and diverse team of peers as well as liaise closely with Business Analyst, Production Support, and Infrastructure teams. This role is for a full-time employee based in Canada.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in all stages of the SDLC within an agile Scrum or iterative methodology environment.

• Perform design and code review and provide feedback to teams.

• Deliver implementations of vendor products into Citi

• Interact with senior management to define and drive architectural direction

• Interact with PMO and translate reported problems/issues into JIRA items to implement

• Enhance/Re-architect existing components to satisfy new performance and scalability requirements

• Provide level 3 (escalation) support for the application

• Ensure all components in the platform are fully compliant with Citi standards

• Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes

• Serve as advisor, coach to new, or lower-level analysts

• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Required skills:

• A minimum of 12+ years application development experience.

• Experience in Architectural, Design, development, and support of complex enterprise level applications with Java EE as a core technology.

• Experience managing major technology projects including but not limited to Migrations (DB, Servers), Software upgrades, vulnerabilities, redesign, and refactoring legacy applications.

• Solid understanding of application infrastructures, including hardware, storage, network, databases, disaster recovery procedures and ability to coordinate with respective teams for issue resolution.

• Experience leading a technical team – including hiring, performance management, talent development.

• Working knowledge Unix including shell scripting (preferably RedHat Linux)

• Experience with the following technologies:

  • Java SE/EE 8 and above

  • RDBMS, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle DB

  • XML/XSD/XSLT and JSON

  • Spring boot, Microservices

  • Cloud Implementations

  • REST API

  • Modern source control, build and continuous integration solutions (Bitbucket, Jenkins, Team City, Artifactory, Sonarqube, Groovy, Maven, Gradle) and DevOps experience.

  • Experience using Jira, Udeploy, Change control.

  • UNIX/Linux Shell scripting

  • Messaging services (Tibco, Kafka, Rabbit MQ, AMQ etc.)

  • Application Servers (Weblogic, Websphere, JBOSS etc.)

  • Authentication Services (OATH 2.0, JWT etc.)

• Logical thinking, Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; innovative and solutions oriented

• Effective time management skills to manage multiple priorities with flexibility on time zones and timelines

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proven experience building scalable, mission critical systems

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Tibco EMS and other message-oriented middleware

• Autosys and scheduling

• Non-relational DBMS (MongoDB)

• Experience in Cloud concepts and technologies: container build and orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, horizontal scaling

• Financial services technology experience

• Physical and logical data modeling

Qualifications:

• 12+ years of relevant experience

• Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications

• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects

• Working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods

• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electronics) and/or computer science
